We’re thrilled to announce that we have been awarded funding from Grow Wild UK and Creative Black Country to run a creative project exploring the fungi at Boundary Way Allotments & Community Garden.

‘Magnifying Mushrooms’ will bring together artists, scientists and plant experts. We’ll be looking closely at fungi and finding out more about interconnections in nature.

Earth star fungi in the woodland

We will be investigating the different types of fungi growing on our site and finding out more about the ‘wood wide web’ – an underground communication network between plants, trees and fungi.

We have an array of exciting activities coming up, ranging from stories of fungi folklore, drawing and painting in the landscape and nature connection sessions with experts and artists.

The project will be run in conjunction with our youth ‘Let’s Talk About Fungi’ Project and will include the creation of an exciting body of work. We’ll will be celebrating our findings at a fungi themed exhibition and open day on the 7th September. This will include talks and creative activities, suitable for all ages. In the meantime sign up for our newsletter via our homepage to received details of our themed programme directly to your inbox.
